Living Life with a Smile

October 17, 2016 – Our Capital Paper Social Committee has been helping families in our community as much as possible. One little boy and his family in our community really warmed our hearts and we just had to do something for them.

His name is Jacob Stern. Jacob was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of 15 months; Jacob is now 5 years old.

"Doctors initially mistook a lump Benjamin found on her toddler as a pulled muscle, but she insisted that wasn’t the case. She pushed for more tests, and months later they had a diagnosis – cancer".

Jacob lives his life with a smile on his face everyday. He went through 5 shots of chemo in 1 go which most adults couldn’t even handle. That same evening he was out on his 4x4 Jeep driving around his yard with joy. Unfortunately, Jacob’s condition has worsened and is spending all his days in the comfort of his home, with his loved ones. The Social Committee was able to put together a movie night gift basket, which included some of Jacobs’s favorite things for him and his family to enjoy in the comfort of their home.

If you are interested in donating to Jacob and his family, please contact our office and we would be happy to help you.
